How To Change The Heater Core On A 2000 Dodge Dakota

Here'southward the skinny on replacing the core. Heater or ac, same procedure. I just did one.
Disconnect the battery negative cablevision.
Pull off the plastic dashcover.
Do non take all those screws around the opening out.
The instrument console tin stay.
Remove the plastic lower and center dash covers.
Wait right under the steering column at the little black cable and the white pollex adjuster. That cablevision operates the gear indicator, unhook it from the column or you will intermission it. They're fun to ready too.
Take the drivers seat out and sit information technology dorsum a few inches, seriously, the steering wheel will go all the fashion to the flooring but te seat makes it really tight, best to sit the seat back.
Take the 2 bolts out of the centre dash mounting subclass, exit the othe three. 10mm
Disconnect the dash main harness and the little 1 beside it also.
Look nether the dash and see if whatever wires have been plastic tied. You might want to cut them loose or they tin can become pulled loose. You lot decide.
Accept the two bottom dash mounting bolts completely out of the sliding affair, dont just loosen them.
Take the iv nuts off of the steering column and lower it down. Sit down the nuance over the center subclass and lay it back. Taking loose another wire plug behind the dash.
Take the flexible hose loose at the heater box. Take the heater cable off at the box and the vacuum lines autonomously at the connection. Become under the hood.
If equipped with ac, recover the refrigerant.
Disconnect the accumulator inlet tubes.
Bleed the cooling organisation.
Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core tubes.
Remove the iv nuts from the heater-A/C mounting studs on the engine compartment side. Hint, ane is hid behind the trans fill tube and some other i is backside the plastic thing holding the heater hose. Some other Hint, yous will need a swivel head ratchething wrench seven/16 or 11mm, non a ratchett and socket combo, oh no.
Detect the vacuum line going inside past the coolant hoses, and disconnect it.
Get dorsum inside on passenger side.
Remove the mounting caryatid that secure the heater-A/C housing to dash lath.
Pull the housing rearward far enough for the mounting studs and evaporator condensate bleed tube to clear the dash panel holes.
Rotate the box and remove it from the vehicle. Some have them out under the nuance, i came out the top, rotating the box clockwise coming upward and out.
Take the fiddling nut and arm off the flapper. Y'all tin leave the push nut alone, but take it off if you lot tin, its easier to put back together. Unplug the vacuum lines from the servos. Be very carefull prying upwardly on the cover, it's very brittle.

Lift the heater core out of the housing.
Installation is the opposite of removal.
Whatever questions, i'll try.
